India vs New Zealand: This is how India can attain higher position in ODI rankings
India has made its mark in the Test cricket under the leadership of Virat Kohli as the national side has been winning consistently and achieved the No. 1 ranking side in the longest format of cricket after their 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand.
At the same time, India has lost its shine in the limited overs format as the team has hardly managed to win any series in the recent years despite a couple of series win against Zimbabwe. Currently, India cricket team is at No. 4 position in the One-Day International rankings.
However, the Dhoni-led squad will clash against New Zealand in the forthcoming One-Day International series as they can rise above in the ODI rankings with an impressive outcome in the series.
The third-ranked New Zealand in ODIs with 114 rating points while India has managed to gather only 110 rating points. Despite Australia's loss by 5-0 against South Africa, both the teams have managed to maintain the top-ranked squads in the format.
India is currently trailing by 3 points with New Zealand as they prepare gear themselves further for the ongoing season and have an opportunity to move up to the third rank if they manage to defeat the Black Caps by a margin of 4-1 or more which means a whitewash.
In the view of the current form of New Zealand in India in the ongoing tours, the Men in Blue winning 4-2 is not a tough nut to crack as they have so far managed to surpass Kiwis in the recent ODI series that took place in India.
Although Team India's recent form has become a cause of concern for Indian fans, as the team lost 4-1 against Australia at the beginning of this year including the disappointing losses to South Africa and Bangladesh last year.
As the matter of fact, India will need to win 4-1 or 5-0 to climb up to the 3rd position in One-Day Internationals.
