Live Cricket Score of India vs New Zealand, 2nd Test, Day 2 at Kolkata
Spin is in : Santner into the attack along with Wagner
Jadeja and Saha are slowly making this India's session. They've added 30 runs after copping all those blows. The introduction of spin allows Jadeja to get one back at New Zealand. He steps out and clouts it over cow corner for a big six. Slowly making it India's morning.
Excellent start
Trent Boult and Matt Henry have made a probing start to the day's proceedings. They're asking all kinds of questions of the batsman's technique. Jadeja, in particular, has been tested outside his off-stump with a couple of gully fielders lurking closely. Aborting that strategy midway, Boult has now resorted to some short stuff. One of the gully fielders has moved to long leg.
The two batsmen have copped a couple on their body and gloves already. Test for guts and temperament for the two batsmen. To their credit, they have fought well so far...
Play : Boult to begin
Trent Boult gets Day 2 underway and has an interesting field stationed for Wriddhiman Saha - Two slips, a gully, a forward short leg and a leg slip! The short ball makes an appearance straight away before the follow-up full delivery is eased through the covers for four. Cat and mouse straight away.
Pitch : Not a typical Kolkata wicket
It was a fascinating day of Test cricket on Friday simply because the conditions at Eden Gardens proved to be quite a mystery. It certainly did a bit for the seamers with the new ball in the morning session and in the evening but once the ball had gone soft, there was little on offer. Jeetan Patel's strikes in the final session showed that with a little bit of body behind the action, there was spin and bounce for the spinners to exploit. But we can judge the pitch only when both teams have had a crack. Aah the good ol cricketing cliche's!
