Live Cricket Scores of Ranji Trophy, 1st Round, Day 4
Build up
We are at the business end of the first round of the Ranji Trophy with a few teams eyeing an outright win. Day 3 would be remembered for the thriller that panned out at Lahli between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu which was won by the champions by just two wickets, courtesy the birthday boy Abhishek Nayar. Another major talking point was Chhattisgarh's win over Tripura, in their very first game in Ranji history.
Today one can expect the likes of Delhi and Railways to push for victories. Both teams are placed in the driver's seat with Delhi needing only 7 wickets after picking up three late in the evening yesterday. Railways hold a lead of around 300 against Punjab and they are expected to declare anytime in the morning session. Madhya Pradesh could pick up a win against the much fancied Uttar Pradesh, who are still trailing by 171 runs. Suresh Raina isn't available to bat for them and that is only going to make the task harder.
The rain-hit games featuring Saurashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Services, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh are expected to end in a draw. Even though the match featuring Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir endured the same fate, Kerala can sniff a win if they manage to pick the remaining five wickets quickly in the morning and make J&K bat again. The contest featuring Jharkhand and Maharashtra could head for a thrilling finish as well. Jharkhand need only 37 more runs to win but they have lost four wickets. One more quick wicket can make this contest interesting.
